The Basic Obedience Dog Training Scholarship
Almost 5 years ago, Julie Parker started Be A Pack Leader Dog Walking Club, a free dog-walking club that encourages dog owners to get out and walk their dogs with a pack, often picnicing at county and state parks or preserves and dining at dog friendly restaurants. The primary purpose of the dog walks is for exercise and socialization. In addition to the dog walks the club has also hosted many free canine educational and training programs for members and the general public at St. Johns County libraries.
Because of lack of obedience training and aggression issues, people will often relinquish their dogs to overcrowded shelters where they may or may not be adopted. By establishing this scholarship the dog walking club wanted to do their part to change this trend in SJC.
In 2012, Be A Pack Leader Dog Walking Club raised money for basic obedience dog training scholarships for several deserving dog owners and their loving canine companions. Funds were added by the St. Augustine Humane Society to further the mission
To qualify for the basic obedience scholarship interested people would be required to submit the application below. Scholarship winners will receive a 4, 6 or 10 week basic obedience class. The dog walking club will pay the trainer directly and require the winner to attend all classes and practice all obedience exercises at home.
We continue to work with the "Be A Pack Leader Dog Walking Club" by promoting and administering the scholarship fund. To find out how to apply for this scholarship, Go towww.beapackleaderdogwalkingclub.com
Education is the key to successful dog training! Through our specially tailored program for you and your dog, you can learn how to shape desirable behaviors and eliminate unwanted behaviors using humane and effective positive reinforcement techniques.
You and your dog will learn to understand each other and work together to build a happy, long-lasting relationship with you as the natural leader. You can teach an old dog new tricks and you can start your new puppy off on the right paw. Our dog training program is designed to keep your family happy and together.
The first class in the series is an orientation class for owners only; please don't bring your dog to this one. Julie will get you prepared and ready to start with all the proper equipment and information.
There are no obedience courses scheduled at this time. Individual Appointments are Available.
